Michigan Functional Capacity Evaluations

We understand the importance of getting back to the job you know and love, which is why we offer functional capacity evaluations (FCE) to assess your physical capabilities and help you return to work.
Who Can Benefit From FCE?
Typically, an FCE is medically requested by a doctor, employer, or lawyer following a sustained injury to help determine if a patient can return safely to work or receive disability. This evaluation is administered by our licensed occupational therapist who assesses a patient's ability to perform tasks and identify when they have met their limit.
We offer both baseline and job specific FCE’s to cater to the needs of every patient:
- Baseline FCE: This method for evaluation can range anywhere between 4 to 6 hours, and is used to determine an individual’s function for disability purposes.
- Job Specific FCE: At the beginning of this evaluation, we collect your job demands to develop a treatment plan specific to the regular performance areas of your occupation. This evaluation can range anywhere from 2 to 4 hours long.
Before your evaluation, you will be asked to provide a description of your occupation that outlines your unique job demands. In return, we will work alongside you to develop a treatment plan that is specific to you and the physical tasks you perform daily.
